Autumn in
Morgantown, W.Va.
The Autumn, or The Fall as it's known in some parts of the United States, is finally upon us. From the
lows of 70 - 75F (20 - 25C) recently in July & August, to the current highs of 60 - 65F (15 - 18C) this
month, the temperatures are not the only thing to change - the colours of the leaves are changing too,
becoming darker and redder.

Come join us on our weekly walk which took place on Sunday, 20th October 2002, along the "Rail of
Trails", a former rail network which used to connect the coal-producing towns of northern West Virginia
and is now a nature trail. Enjoy your visit!

Our walk begins with a climb up the steep hill
behind where we live. If you look closely through
the trees on the left, you may see the  white walls
of our house and detached garage.

Along the trail Bernie climbs up onto a rock, and
with her green tee-shirt on you can hardly see her!

The trail stretches for miles, and each week we try
and walk for  half-an-hour. Here you can see the
change in the colour of the trees. It really is a
beautiful sight!
Looking down into Decker's Creek, you can
perhaps make out the river that runs past. This
eventually flows into the Monangahela River, that
goes all the way to Pittsburgh, Pa.

Bernie told me of the elderly couple who used to
walk the trail every day, until the wife passed away.
Her husband built this memorial behind the
wooden bench on which she rested during their
walks.
After about 2 miles (3Km) we decide to turn
around and head back home. You can see the
colours a little better in this picture.
We hope you enjoyed this brief tour as much as we enjoyed sharing it with you. Don't forget to let
