Buttermilk Pie

While Buttermilk Pie is a Southern tradition, its luscious sweet-tart flavour should be a welcome addition to summer picnics and parties anywhere.

Buttermilk Pie is great for summer entertaining, as it travels fairly well and needs to be prepared ahead.  Bake it early in the day, or even a day before serving, then slice the pie and garnish with fresh berries for a Southern summer sweet.

This recipe is taken from a family secret of a friend from Stanford, Ky.  There are many different variations of Buttermilk Pie as there are people who cook them. For that extra special flavour, you can add fresh lemon juice.
